Letter from the CEO It has been a wonderful few weeks for ARHA. We managed a very successful PNG Forum and were able to attract some eminent speakers to comment on the links between reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and violence against women. ARHA hosted Dame Carol Kidu, Minister
for Community Development in PNG and Mr Ian Howie UNFPA representative in We were also engaged in our role as Secretariat to the Parliamentary Group on Population and Development in the launch of the ‘State of the World Population’ UNFPA Report at Parliament House which Senator Maryse Payne hosted. ARHA has also made a submission to The White Paper on the Australian aid program and attended some of the meetings about this and the new health policy. I also attended the Australian Council for International Development (of which we are a member) Annnual General Meeting held over two days and participated in the Gender Equity Working Group meeting and the “Bringing the community Along’ workshop We are currently busy working on our priorities for the year ahead whilst continuing with our work on upgrading our publications and websites and investigating new possibilities for fund raising and philanthropy. We would of course very much welcome any input or ideas from our members! Best
wishes
Mr Ian Howie, UNFPA Rep Vietnam, Dame Carol Kidu MP (PNG) and Senator Marise Payne (Aust) at the UNFPA State of the World Population Launch. October 2005
